Take your time
Let the candy rest on your tongue and notice the first impression. Is it bright or mellow? Fruity or floral? As the flavor develops, see whether your first guess changes. A glass of water between different candies can help reset your palate.

Invite a friend to try the same flavor and share their guess before revealing yours. There is no wrong answer: everyone notices different things. For young children, use appropriate supervision when serving hard candy.
